Premio Maguey anuncia a sus artistas EMME 2015

ElFestival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG), en su edición 30, presenta la cuarta entrega dePremio Maguey.

Enfatizando gráficamente la naturaleza dual del ser humano, EMME es la síntesis de esas dos fracciones: una forma simple que se reviste para cobrar vida. Su creador, el artista Adrián Guerrero, presenta -junto con la intervención de siete artistas- el Premio Maguey que galardona lo mejor del cine con temática QUEER/LGBTTTI del mundo mediante piezas de arte únicas. 

Los artistas que intervendrán las piezas para la cuarta edición de Premio Maguey son: Adrián Guerrero (artista multidisciplinario), Aldo López Madriz (creativo), Estrella Reynoso (menswear), Jaramara Mendoza (diseñadora), Orlandoto (artista plástico), Ricardo Romo (diseñador gráfico), Sofía Carrillo (animadora y directora de arte) y Ulises González (artista multidisciplinario).

Premio Maguey announces its 2015 EMME artists

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), in its 30th edition, presents the 4th edition of Premio Maguey.

Graphically emphasizing the dual nature of the human being, EMME is the synthesis of those two fractions: a simple form that transmutes to become alive. Its creator, artist Adrian Guerrero, presents –along with the intervention of seven artists- the Premio Maguey which rewards the best of QUEER/LGBTTTI-themed movies from around the world through unique art pieces.

The artists who will work on the art pieces on the fourth edition of Premio Maguey are: Adrián Guerrero (multi-disciplinary artist), Aldo López Madriz (creative), Estrella Reynoso (menswear), Jaramara Mendoza (designer), Orlandoto (plastic artist), Ricardo Romo (graphic designer), Sofía Carrillo (animator and art director) y Ulises González (multi-disciplinary artist).

ADRIÁN GUERRERO

ARTISTA MULTIDISCIPLINARIO

Artista nacido en Guadalajara en Febrero de 1975. Tiene una maestría en filosofía y ciencias sociales. Es arquitecto. Docente del taller de escultura en cerámica y del taller de creación en artes audiovisuales del ITESO. Ceramista autodidacta desde 1990. Desde 2004 a la fecha ha participado en bienales y en numerosas exposiciones tanto individuales como colectivas, en galerías y museos, en diferentes ciudades de la República Mexicana, España, Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, Corea, Italia y República Dominicana. Su obra forma parte de diversas colecciones de Venezuela, España, México, EUA, Chile, Corea e Italia.

Artist born in Guadalajara in February, 1975. He has a master’s degree in philosophy and social sciences. He’s an architect. Teacher at the ceramic sculpture and audiovisual arts creation workshops in ITESO. Self-taught pottery-maker since 1990. Since 2004 he has participated in several exhibitions both collective and individual, in galleries and museums, in different cities of Mexico, Spain, England, United States, Korea, Italy and Dominican Republic. His work is part of several collections in Venezuela, Spain, Mexico, United States, Chile, Korea and Italy.

ALDO LÓPEZ MADRIZ

CREATIVO

Creativo independiente originario de Guadalajara. Su incursión a temprana edad en el ámbito de los elastómeros y fibras de vidrio le permitió desarrollar la habilidad y el gusto por el manejo inusual de estos materiales, contando con exposiciones individuales y colectivas en ciudades como Guadalajara, Monterrey y Hermosillo. Su exposición CORONEL es un proyecto tapatío de arte y diseño mediante la aleación de polímeros, metales y materiales poco convencionales aplicados en diversas disciplinas como la elaboración de piezas escultóricas, el diseño de accesorios de moda, el arte objeto y la intervención de espacios.

Independent creative born in Guadalajara. His work with plastics and fiberglass at an early age allowed him to develop the skill and taste for an unusual handling of these materials, with individual and group exhibitions in cities such as Guadalajara, Monterrey and Hermosillo. His exhibition CORONEL is an art and design project from Guadalajara that uses a mixture of plastics, metals and unconventional materials applied in different disciplines such as sculpture, fashion accessories, art objects and installations.

ESTRELLA REYNOSO

MENSWEAR

Cursó la carrera de Diseño de Modas en UNICO y luego tomó la especialidad en Sastrería de Caballero con el Mtro. Heriberto Montes. Al finalizar sus estudios obtuvo el 1er lugar en los “Smirnoff International Fashion Awards Mexico” (1999), donde recibió la oportunidad de representar a México en la edición internacional realizada en Hong Kong. Desde entonces ha desarrollado su propia línea de sastrería de vanguardia para caballero, y su trabajo se ha dado a conocer en revistas especializadas de moda como ELLE y Harper’s Bazaar, así como en los periódicos Reforma, El Informador y El Universal. También ha colaborado para la línea de hombre de la marca PEOPLE, y trabajó dentro del equipo de diseño de Julia y Renata.

Graduated as Fashion Designer from UNICO and then specialized in Men Tailoring with Professor Heriberto Montes. When she finished her studies she got first place in the “Smirnoff International Fashion Awards Mexico” (1999), through which she received the opportunity to represent Mexico in the international edition that took place in Hong Kong. Since then she developed her own avant-garde line for men, and her work has been features in specialized magazines such as ELLE and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as newspapers such as Reforma, El Informador and El Universal. She has also collaborated for the men’s line of the brand PEOPLE, and worked as part of the design team of Julia y Renata.

JARAMARA MENDOZA

DISEÑADORA

Nació en Guadalajara. Es Licenciada en Diseño y Comunicación Gráfica por la Universidad de Guadalajara. Con apoyo de la SEPROE inicia su carrera como empresaria y diseñadora, desarrollando productos y creando marcas propias, entre las cuales la más destacada fue TATEI. Colaboró con diversas editoriales y abrió sus primeras tiendas en Guadalajara y la Cd. de México. Con esta marca tiene una colaboración con Levi’s, elaborando una línea exclusiva. Obtuvo el galardón al Diseño en Guadalajara y hoy en día comparte proyectos con Vans, lanzando la colaboración Vans by Huichol en donde se hace énfasis en la cultura huichol por su arte y diseño.

She was born in Guadalajara. She has a bachelor’s degree in Design and Graphic Communicaction by the Universidad de Guadalajara. With the support from SEPROE she started her career as a businesswoman and designer, developing products and creating her own brands, the most important one being TATEI. She collaborated with several editorials and open her first stores in Guadalajara and Mexico City. With this brand she started an exclusive collaboration with Levi’s. She won the Guadalajara Design award and currently collaborates with Vans on the line Vans by Huichol, in which she puts the spotlight on the huichol culture for its arte and design.

ORLANDOTO

ARTISTA PLÁSTICO

Es originario de Guadalajara, Jalisco (1978). Su formación profesional es como diseñador 
industrial y actualmente cursa un posgrado en Desarrollo de Nuevos Productos e Innovación. Como ilustrador ha colaborado con las revistas Magis, Glup y Replicante, y el periódico La Jornada Jalisco. Además colabora semanalmente en el suplemento “o2Cultura”, de La Gaceta de la Universidad de Guadalajara. Su obra ha sido expuesta de manera individual y colectiva en importantes galerías del país. La risa y una actitud no convencional permean su obra y su personalidad.

He was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco (1978). His professional education is as industrial designer and he currently taking a master’s degree in Innovation and New Products Development. As illustrator he has collaborated with the Magis, Glup and Replicante magazines, and the La Jornada Jalisco newspaper. He also collaborates on a weekly basis with the “o2Cultura” section in La Gaceta from the Universidad de Guadalajara. His work has been shown both collectively and individually in important galleries of Mexico. Laughing and a non-conventional attitude permeate his work and personality.

RICARDO ROMO

DISEÑADOR GRÁFICO

Diseñador gráfico de profesión, con un gusto casi enfermizo hacia los art toys, la cultura popular japonesa de los años 70´s, y la tipografía; dirige actualmente su propio estudio de diseño y branding. Fue miembro fundador del Colectivo Hematoma -ahora extinto- que se caracterizó por sus esfuerzos de llevar nuevamente el cartel a las calles con temáticas lúdicas y sociales. Sus ratos de ocio son dedicados a la creación digital de escenas irreales, donde la fotografía antigua y el vinyl toy conviven inocentemente en atmósferas oníricas, muchas veces absurdas.

Graphic designer with an almost obsessive knack for art toys, Japanese 70’s popular culture, and typography; currently runs his own design and branding workshop. Was found member of Colectivo Hematoma –now extinct- which was known for its efforts to bring back the poster to the streets with creative and social themes. He dedicates his spare time to the digital creation of unreal scenes, where antique photography and toy vinyl innocently converge in dream-like, sometimes absurd, atmospheres.

SOFÍA CARRILLO

ANIMADORA & DIRECTORA DE ARTE

Es Licenciada en Artes Audiovisuales de la Universidad de Guadalajara. Cuenta en su filmografía con los cortometrajes de animaciónEl Corazón del Sastre (2014), La Casa Triste (2013), Prita Noire (2011), Fuera de Control (2008) y Vértigo (2003). Ganadora del Ariel de Plata por Mejor Corto Animado, en la 54 entrega de los Arieles AMAC por Prita Noire. Realizadora del cineminuto del FICG29 “Todas las pantallas son nuestras”. Ha tenido participaciones en Berlin Talents 2014 en el marco de la 64 Berlinale, y formó parte de los becarios de Mexicannes 2014 en el marco del GIFF. Realizó la Dirección de Arte en Fecha de Caducidad (2012) y Fogonero del Delirio (2011), aunado a varios cortometrajes.

She has a degree in Media Arts from the Universidad de Guadalajara. Her filmography includes the animated shorts El Corazón del Sastre (2014), La Casa Triste (2013), Prita Noire (2011), Fuera de Control (2008) and Vértigo (2003). Winner of the Ariel de Plata for Best Animated Short in the 54th Ariel AMAC ceremony for Prita Noire. She made the cineminuto of FICG29 “Todas las pantallas son nuestras”. She has participated in Berlin Talents 2014 within the 64^th Berlinale and was part of the scholarship program of Mexicannes 2014 within the GIFF. She was Art Director for Fecha de Caducidad (2012) and Fogonero del Delirio (2011), among other short films.

Artista cubano radicado en México desde 1991. Su obra se encuentra en colecciones como la del Príncipe Egon von Furstemberg, Gloria Estefan, Galeria Cloude Bernard, Silvio Rodríguez, Nina Menocal, Museo de Bellas Artes de Cuba, Museo de las Artes de México, Fundación Televisa, Trockmorton Fine Arts, David Floria Gallery, Alejandro Gallo y cientos de colecciones. Su obra ha inspirado escritos de diferentes artistas y personalidades del arte, como es el caso de Raquel Tibol, Spencer Throckmorton, Wendy Guerra, Silvio Rodríguez, Santiago Espinosa de los Monteros, Fabienne Fulcheri, Edgardo Ganado Kim, Ricardo Duarte, Germaine Gómez Haro, entre muchos.
