TO ATTEND MIFF
Director Mike Myers / Supermensch — The Legend of Shep Gordon
BREAKING NEWS!!
Mike Myers, Canadian film producer, screenwriter and actor (Austin Powers, Shrek) will be making a personal appearance at MIFF for the unveiling of his directorial debut, Supermensch – The Legend of Shep Gordon, as he takes us behind-the-scenes into the fast lane life of legendary impresario Shep Gordon (also scheduled to attend the screening) who influenced the careers of celebrities such as Michael Douglas, Emeril Lagasse, Willie Nelson, Sylvester Stallone, Alice Cooper and Raquel Welch. Myers' confirmed attendance means that 10 out of 10 directors in MIFF's Knight Documentary Competition will be at the Festival to present their films to the Miami public in person.

As previously announced, filmmaker Jesse Moss will also be in Miami to present The Overnighters, the film that last month won him Sundance Film Festival's U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Intuitive Filmmaking. Also on the guest list is Florida native and former Oscar nominee (for his film Paradise Lost: Purgatory, about the West Memphis Three) Joe Berlinger, director of Whitey: United States of America v. James J. Bulger; with his shocking exposé of FBI's possible complicity in allowing infamous gangster James "Whitey" Bulger to control a criminal empire for decades. Whitey was the inspiration behind Martin Scorsese's The Departed.)

Andrew Rossi will be present as he throws the American education system into question withIvory Tower; Marianne Lamour will be on hand for a look at the lucrative comtemporary art market dominated by speculative billionaire collectors in The Art Rush; and Chilean writer/filmmaker Alberto Fuguet will accompany the impactful exploration of Francis Ford Coppola’s characters in Locations: Looking for Rusty James, as well as lead a Master Class discussion that explores the deep, creative influence of film on his life and his own journey to find Rusty James in "A Very Bright Future: The End of Movies as We Know Them...".

Director/producer Allison Berg and director/producer/editor Frank Keraudren will be in attendance to bring us The Dog, the behind-the-movie story of John Wojtowitz‘s attempted 1972 bank heist that inspired the movie Dog Day Afternoon; Javier Polo, director of Europe in 8 Bits, will be present to expand on the European chip music trend, recycling old games consoles of the '80s into musical machines of the 21st century; John Maloofwill be in attendance to share the secret life of the late Vivian Maier, a career nanny whose unknown cache of 100,000 photos earned her posthumous recognition as one of America's most proficient and insightful street photographers inFinding Vivian Maier; and co-directors and founders of Market Road Films Tony Gerber andMaxim Pozdorovkin will also be present to share their documentation of the bizarre story of Russian arms smuggler Viktor Bout (who is kind of a cross between Pablo Escobar and Homer Simpson!) in The Notorious Mr. Boutt.
